Abstract
This paper presents a generalized analysis and design procedure for mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls that is based upon the load and resistance factor design (LRFD) method. An example is presented to illustrate the new design criteria and to show engineers and students how the LRFD method is applied to MSE walls. Useful design recommendations are also provided in the paper.
