Pre-experiment planning for designed experiments: Graphical methods

This paper presents graphical methods for deciding on experiment goals, selecting and identifying variables, and specifying a model. These steps are often overlooked in the literature, where the appropriate variables and model are assumed to be given. The methods are illustrated using a disk pressing case study.
