Abstract
We determine the topological susceptibility in the SU(3) pure gauge theory by performing a series of high-statistics studies. We calculate the combined continuum and infinite volume limit and obtain χtopr0 4 = 0.0524(7)(6), which translates into χtop 1/4 = 193(1)(8)MeV, where the second error is exclusively caused by the intrinsic scale setting ambiguity in SU(3) Yang-Mills-theory.
