Prediction of pressure drop in finite geometries with periodic flow

Abstract

A simplified model for predicting pressure drop in finite geometries with periodic flow (eg, fluid-tuned mounts) has been developed. The model is based on an exact solution to the Navier-Stokes equations and has been made more general through the use of empirical coefficients. The values of these coefficients were determined by numerical simulation of the flow. Comparison of the predicted pressure drop and phase from the model with experimental data show very good agreement.
