Abstract
A mass casualty incident (MCI) is a disaster or major incident with a variety of patient injuries that can overwhelm the local medical resources to deliver appropriate medical care. This chapter reviews the importance of an effective triage system, the options of triage systems currently available, and the details of how a triage system works.
