Abstract
In 1996, a program was initiated to evaluate current site-specific technology and its potential role in processed vegetable production on the Delmarva Peninsula. Specific goals included: 1) yield mapping of several processed vegetables including green peas, lima beans, and pickling cucumbers and 2) evaluating site specific soil management for processed. This paper describes the on going tests to evaluate several yield monitor designs for pod stripper combines. In addition, a yield monitor design is proposed for self propelled, tractor mounted cucumber harvesters. Results clearly illustrate yield variations within and among fields and plantings in both peas and cucumbers.
