N2 - The primary goal of these experiments with 1-methylnapthalene was to prove the feasibility of performing experiments with polynuclear aromatic species in the Princeton flow reactor. After elimination of some problems with the evaporator system, several successful experiments were performed; the results from these preliminary experiments are presented. Also, a partial mechanism for the oxidation of 1-methylnapthalene is discussed, and some of the reactions show an analogy to the reactions of benzene and toluene under similar conditions.
