Abstract
Despite their widespread use in communication studies, process models are often constrained by the study they find themselves in. To create their own process models for their own particular studies, scholars have to start from scratch with limited guidance on the “how-to” of process model creation. The purpose of this paper is to show how to build a process model based on contingent conditions. This paper also explains modifications that can be made to tailor the process model to particular communication studies, applications of the process model, and limitations of the process model.
