Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of product structure on the performance of scheduling operations in a recoverable manufacturing environment. We use a modified index of product structure complexity to quantitatively differentiate between three different product structure types and investigate the effects of these product structures on the performance of various scheduling policies, disassembly release mechanisms and priority dispatching rules, in a recoverable manufacturing environment.
