Abstract
A reversible bleeding diathesis associated with marked prolongation of the bleeding time was recognized in five patients receiving the new antibiotic moxalactam disodium (Moxam). Platelet dysfunction secondary to interference with adenosine diphosphate-induced aggregation has been demonstrated in vitro. Clinically important hemorrhage consequent to the use of this antibiotic may be more common than previously thought.
