Abstract

Chiral sculptured thin films (STFs) are periodically anisotropic, and exhibit the circular Bragg phenomenon over a certain wavelength regime on axial excitation. Among the key deposition parameters for the growth of a chiral STF is the so-called vapor incidence angle χv. Analysis based on data on the related columnar thin films (CTFs) shows that pseudo-isotropic values of χv can exist. Similarly, a maximum-bandwidth value of χv is also shown to be possible.
