Abstract
A pseudo-two-dimensional, steady-state, two-phase flow model was used to describe co-current, upward vertical flow of gas and solid particles. It incorporates viscous dissipation terms in both phases. Numerical solution was obtained by using the method of lines. The calculated pressure, gas and solid velocity profiles and concentration under different operating conditions agree with the observed physical behavior of the system reported in the literature. The solid velocity profiles calculated using our model agree reasonably well with K. V. S. Reddy's experimental data.
