Abstract

A pseudo-two-dimensional, steady-state, two-phase flow model was used to describe co-current upward vertical flow of gas and solid particles. It incorporated viscous dissipation terms in both phases. A numerical solution was obtained using the method of lines. The calculated pressure, gas and solid velocity profiles and concentration under different operating conditions agree with the observed physical behaviour of the system reported in the literature. The solid velocity profiles calculated using the model agreed reasonably well with Reddy's experimental data. (A)
