Abstract
Piezoelectric actuators with a step- or pulse voltage applied are analyzed. The strain induced is, in general, associated with an overshoot and ringing. When the rise time for the voltage is approximately adjusted (i. e. equal to the resonance period), this ringing is radically reduced. To support the analysis, the experiment has been performed using a bimorph-type actuator.
