Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to offer an outline of the origins and developments of "queer" as a theoretical construct in the study of the complex intersections between language, gender, and sexuality, focusing in particular on the topic of masculinities. Such a queer approach to masculinities will be illustrated not only through an overview of the existing literature on the topic, but also through an analysis of a fictional instance of doctor-patient interaction taken from the TV miniseries Angels in America. The chapter will conclude with a few reflections about the future of queering language and masculinities.
