Radiative cooling of solar absorbers using a transparent photonic crystal thermal blackbody

Abstract

We demonstrate radiative cooling of solar absorbers with utilization of sunlight. By placing a visibly-transparent thermal blackbody atop the absorber, we cool the absorber by 13C, while preserving or even slightly enhancing sunlight absorption.
