Abstract

The interpretation of multiple frequency ground penetrating radar (GPR) data of the railroad substructure were discussed. The track substructure consisted of ballast, subballast, and the subgrade regions for monitoring the optimum performance of the track integrity. The track maintenance and monitoring were improved using the ground penetrating radar systems. The results showed the use of GPR as a viable operational monitoring tool for track substructure monitoring.
