Abstract

The use of non-matrix laser desorption methods and MALDI-TOF-mass spectrometry (MS) for rapid drug metabolite profiling was discussed. Optimization of the refined method was carried out on microsomal incubations using nanostructured films in conjunction with a Micromass M@LDI LR instrument, in reflection mode with lock mass correction. The surface of the film was comprised of vertical, rod-like columns, bundled into larger columnar features contained in a continuous void space. The analysis of a microsomal incubation of dextromethorphan showed adequate sensitivity for detection of the parent drug and metabolite.
