Abstract

Molecular genetics has proved quite successful in identifying the components of RAS-mediated signal transduction in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and in defining the nature of their interactions. Recently, the emphasis has shifted to a biochemical approach as the processes of guanine nucleotide exchange, GTPase stimulation activity and post-translational modification of Ras proteins have all been reproduced in vitro.
