Abstract

Re-entry courts are a criminal justice program developed to ease an offender's transition from prison or jail back into society. Re-entry courts are based on the problem-solving court model and provide offenders with a support network for finding treatment, housing, and employment while also using the judicial system to encourage offenders to desist from crime. Compared to other problem-solving court models, re-entry courts are relatively new and empirical evidence about their effectiveness is in its infancy.
