Abstract

This paper reports on the reaction of [CpM(PPh3)2(L)]+/0(Cp = η5-C5H5; M = Os, L = CH3CN, DMSO Br; M = Ru, X = Cl, CH3CN) with diethyldithiocarbamate (S2 CNEt2-). The exceptional kinetic stability of [Os-PPh3] compared to [Ru-PPh3] is reflected from the isolation of the monodentate diethyldithiocarbamate complex [CpOs(PPh3)21-S2CNEt2)] (3) and the bidentate diethyldithiocarbamate complex [CpRu(PPh3)(κ2-S2CNEt2)] (5) as the only products. The structure of [CpOs(PPh3)2(CH3CN)]BF4 (2 · BF4) and 5 were determined by X-ray diffraction.
