Abstract
Electromechanical solid state devices are currently being actively investigated. Very recently, three new types of ceramic actuators have been under development: 1)digital displacement transducers or shapememory ceramics, 2) monomorph actuators, and 3) photostrictive devices. These devices are reviewed with particular emphasis on the initial processes of the discovery.
