Abstract

The relative roles of Leukocyte (WBC) and endothelial cell (EC) activation in affecting their adhesion were discussed. To examine the relative roles of WBC and EC activation, antibodies (1A29) to ICAM-1 were attached to the surface of inert fluorescently labeled microspheres. The results suggested that glycocalyx plays a significant role in the WBC-EC adhesion process.
