N2 - Orthopedic tissues respond to mechanical loads to maintain normal homeostasis and in response to injury. As the body of work on this continues to grow, it is important to synthesize the recent studies across tissues and specialties with one another and with past studies. Hence, this review highlights the knowledge gained since 2000, with only few exceptions, concerning the effects of mechanical load and biologics on remodeling and repair of orthopedic tissue.
