Abstract

This chapter combines research in dialogic communication and organizational ethical culture building to offer both a conceptual process, and behavioural tactics, for leaders to move beyond artificially limited horizons for their organizations. More specifically, an argument is developed to show that leaders can benefit from a strong organizational culture that retains an openness to change and diversity of thought by establishing a stable foundation in ethics, more specifically by grounding an organization's culture upon the ethical principle that all persons must be respected. This ethical commitment is tactically modelled through dialogic communication, which is then further leveraged to both sustain an ethical culture and further promote innovation.
