Abstract

Zone electrophoresis in capillaries filled with micellar and mixed micellar solutions was examined for the separation of borate‐complexed catechols. The mechanism for solute velocity was shown to involve both retention by hydrophobic interaction with the micelles and electrophoretic mobility. Mixed micellar systems involving SDS and SOS surfactants were shown to allow greater selectivity and increased separation efficiency.
