Abstract

This study demonstrates a novel method, using ring opening metathesis polymerization and cyclic organoborane monomers, to prepare functional groups containing polyolefins. The good stability of borane moieties to catalysts and the good solubility of polyboranes in hydrocarbon solvents offer the idea reaction condition for ROMP polymerization. With the versatility of borane group, this synthetical route becomes a potential choice in preparing a wide range of functional polymers.
