Abstract

With increasing globalization and growing economic interdependence, air travel has seen unprecedented growth in developing countries. Therefore, the planning and construction of airports has become the focus of considerable attention. Airport networks are an important component of transport infrastructure and must be designed such that failure of any components does not result in a catastrophic or costly event. The World-wide airport network has been proved to be a small-world network, from which certain properties can be mined. In this paper we propose a graph analysis approach to identify the resilience of Indian Airport Network (IAN). Using graph measure and by simulating attack scenarios we show that IAN is robust under random attacks, but is weaker in case of strategic attacks.
