Abstract
The export versus food production for domestic consumption dilemma faced by LDCs, is explored. Many LDCs are significant exporters of raw agricultural products, yet many people are undernourished. The complex mix of political, economic, social, and environmental factors within a country that influence the trade- offs between cash and subsistence crops are considered and the case for both export and domestic food is argued. Concludes that the issue is the distribution of income and wealth between rich and poor, both within and between countries.-from WAERSA
