Runaway evaporative cooling to bose-einstein condensation of cesium atoms in optical traps

Abstract

We demonstrate a simple scheme to achieve fast, runaway evaporative cooling to Bose-Einstein condensation with ~105 optically trapped cesium atoms in 2~4 seconds by tilting an optical potential with a magnetic field gradient.
