Abstract
The shape of SANGA2 in Ebla sheds light on the two graphic varieties of this sign in Ur III and OB texts. Originally, there was a tendency to distinguish between SANGA2 and LAK-175 (hurin/hirinx), albeit not consistently, in ED and Ur III. Ebla bears witness to this situation. By OB, however, the descendants of SANGA2 and LAK-175 had become mere graphic variants.
