Abstract

The study of schottky emission at the metal polymer interface and its effects on the polarization switching of ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) copolymer thin films was discussed. It was suggested that for P(VDF-TrFE) thin films MIM structure, the metal/polymer interface and schottky emission play significant role in the observed electrode dependent asymmetric phenomena. The electrode dependent phenomena indicate that there was an interface controlled conduction process in the ferroelectric thin films MIM structure in which the contact barrier and charge injection play dominating roles. It was found that the polarization switching were asymmetry increased with the increasing work function difference.
