Abstract
This chapter describes the fundamentalist religion and the teaching of Intelligent Design (ID). Intelligent design is an explanation of the origin of life that differs from Darwin's view. ID is not science. It fails on three different levels, any one of which is sufficient to preclude a determination that ID is science. They are: ID violates the centuries-old ground rule of science by invoking and permitting supernatural causation, the argument of irreducible complexity, central to ID, employs the same flawed and illogical dualism that doomed creation science in the 1980s, and ID's negative attacks on evolution are refuted by the scientific community. It is additionally important to note that ID has failed to gain acceptance in the scientific community, it has not generated peer-reviewed publications, nor it is the subject of testing and research.
