N2 - The extracavity and intracavity second-harmonic generation (SHG) of 1.06 μm in Sr doped GdCa4O(BO3)3 (GdCOB) cut for phase-matching direction of (θ,φ)=(66.8°,132.3°) was investigated. With a 6-mm-long crystal, the extracavity SHG efficiency reached 55%. In the case of intracavity SHG in an end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser, 2.3 W of CW SHG power was obtained with an optical conversion efficiency of 17.7%. It was found that the effective nonlinear coefficient (deff) is increased by a factor of 1.15-1.17 compared to the undoped GdCOB crystal.
