Abstract

Mesoporous TiO2, CeO2, Ti-Ce-O and Ti-Ce-Al-O adsorbents were prepared by a co-precipitation method. Adsorptive desulfurization and regeneration tests of real jet fuel (JP-5) over these metal oxides were conducted and compared at room temperature and under atmosphere pressure in both batch and flow fixed-bed adsorption systems. The adsorbents were characterized by XRD, BET, SEM, TGA-MS and XPS methods. Quantity chemical calculation was used for electronic density analysis of aromatic and sulfur-containing aromatic compound. The results indicate that mesoporous Ti-Ce-Al-O adsorbent has higher sulfur adsorptive capacity and sulfur adsorptive selectivity when sulfur compounds, aromatics and olefin are coexisting in the fuel. The adsorbent can be oxidatively regenerated in air, the structure and surface morphology of the adsorbent can be remained after regeneration.
