Abstract

Vibrational response characteristics of some fruits and vegetables, as well as certain foreign materials, make resonance techniques applicable to selective sorting. The concept of a tuned system was tested with the product, or foreign object, interacting as an active component in the system. Several exciter-detector devices were designed and tested to prove the feasibility of the concept.
