Abstract
CeO 2-TiO 2 mixed oxides (CeO 2, Ti 0.05Ce 0.95O 2, Ti 0.1Ce 0.9O 2, Ti 0.5Ce 0.5O 2, Ti 0.9Ce 0.1O 2, and TiO 2) with BET surface area between 39.1 and 192 sq m/g were synthesized by urea gelation/coprecipitation methods. The adsorption properties of these materials were studied in the desulfurization of a model gasoline, which contained thiophene, tetrahydrothiophene, benzothiophene, and 2-methylbenzothiophene; toluene and 1-octene in heptane were used at room temperature and ambient pressure. TiO 2-CeO 2 bimetallic oxides exhibited higher desulfurization capacity compared with the monometallic oxides, TiO 2 and CeO 2.
