Sensitive absolute polarization measurement using vector light shifts in cold atoms

Abstract

By measuring the vector light shift in spin-polarized Cs atoms trapped in a cavity builtup optical lattice, we have demonstrated linear polarization that is pure to within 2x10-8 in fractional intensity.
