Abstract

Edge computing as a highly distributed multi-Tenant computing system relies on its effective interactions with the underlying 5G network to achieve its advantages in service provisioning. On the other hand, edge computing is also transforming 5G network via deploying more computing capabilities at network edge. In this paper, we advocate a holistic vision of service orchestration to facilitate integration of edge computing and 5G network. We attempt to sketch a big picture of the state of the art research enabling the integrated network-edge service architecture. We also discuss technical challenges and identify opportunities for future research in this area.
