Abstract

The University of Iowa Libraries, in partnership with faculty from a wide range of disciplines, has established the Scholarly Digital Resources Center (SDRC) to foster the creation and use of digitized collections and resources of interest to the University of Iowa community. Activities include electronic publishing, digitizing of unique research materials, and providing access to digital collections located in other institutions. The SDRC provides a unique case study of an emerging digital initiative based on the premise of collaboration or "sharing minds." The development of SDRC development, accomplishments, emerging experiences, and future directions are presented, as well as challenges and issues inherent in the new scholarly digital worlds.
