Abstract
Piezoelectric, continuously twisted, structurally chiral materials (PCTSCMs) exhibit the circular Bragg phenomenon in a narrow frequency regime when irradiated by a normally incident shear wave. In the predecessor paper, the interposition of a thin layer of a homogeneous material between two identical PCTSCM layers was shown to create a spectral hole in the transmittance spectrum. In the simpler design presented here, the homogeneous layer is absent but the two PCTSCM layers are twisted with respect to each other by 90° about their common helicoidal axis.
