Abstract
The synthesis of continuous mesoporous carbon thin films through direct carbonization of silica films was analyzed. Investigations show that the mesoporous carbon contained an average pore wall thickness of 2.0 nm. The characteristic dimension of the silica network was found to be similar to the pore size of mesoporous carbon. The results show that the continuous mesoporous thin films were important for sensors, separations and fuel cell applications.
