Abstract
This paper presents a new approach for the robust control of vibration in a flexible structure in the presence of uncertain parameters and the effect of observation spillover. The algorithm is based on sliding mode control and H∞/μ techniques. A set of sliding hyperplanes is designed in estimated state space via the linear fractional transformation and the H∞ control methods. Using a flexible tetrahedral truss structure, numerical examples are presented to verify the theoretical analysis. Results from H∞ control with estimated states, sliding mode/H∞ control using estimated states and the standard output-feedback H∞ control are presented and compared.
