Abstract

This paper presents a new approach for the robust control of vibration in a flexible structure in the presence of uncertain parameters and the effect of observation spillover. The algorithm is based on sliding mode control and H/μ techniques. A set of sliding hyperplanes is designed in estimated state space via the linear fractional transformation and the H control methods. Using a flexible tetrahedral truss structure, numerical examples are presented to verify the theoretical analysis. Results from H control with estimated states, sliding mode/H control using estimated states and the standard output-feedback H control are presented and compared.
