Abstract
Through wavelength division multiplexing, the optical fiber bandwidth can be divided to achieve high-speed parallel channels. A multichannel LAN can be configured using these parallel channels along with a passive optical star. In [1] and [2], a very high-speed optical fiber local area network using passive star topology was proposed and a number of random access protocols were discussed and analyzed. In [3], improved protocols for the same architecture were introduced. It is well known that slotted Aloha protocols improve the throughput of the network. In this paper some more protocols using slotted Aloha techniques are presented for the same network architecture given in [1]. This paper describes six cases of slotted Aloha and improved slotted Aloha techniques and two cases of Reservation Aloha protocols.
