Abstract

The future of computer software in the new millennium is discussed. A set of 13 questions was circulated to boards for responding to the questions. According to Ferrante, software will learn to update itself more quickly and efficiently. He also added that open-source technologies are gaining greater traction in the marketplace. According to Chang, the advancement of software tools will enable users to customize commercial applications by performing simple programming, which virtually allows everyone to play the role of programmer.
