Abstract
The use of software in aerospace systems is discussed. NASA's Computing Systems and Interoperability System Integration Group provide technical insight and strategic planning to the organizational mission by developing and supporting risk mitigation approaches for software development, assurance, and certification across the program. The program is also analyzing various scenarios for developing the lunar architecture for the lunar capability phase. The ETDP Reliable Software Engineering project develops advanced techniques for robust design and validation of the complex safety-critical software envisioned for NASA's exploration program. RTCA is another significant project to update DO-178B, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification. Air Force Research Lab's Operational Responsive Space program has sponsored OpenSAT database open architecture whose objective is to support the Air Force's ORS program's capability to assemble, test, and launch a satellite.
