Abstract
Samarium and manganese modified lead titanate thin films were deposited on Pt coated Si (100) substrates by spin coating using a precursor solution prepared from Pb, Sm and Mn acetates and Ti-isopropoxide with acetic acid and n-propanol as solvents. The gel powder on heat treatment showed (101) as the highest intensity peak while the thin films deposited on Pt coated silicon substrates showed a preferential orientation of (100). These films after being annealed at 900 °C for 1 h showed good remanent polarization and coercive fields.
