Abstract
This chapter focuses on life course criminology, and particularly the relationship between crime and age as expressed in the age-crime curve. It considers within-individual differences such as persistence and desistance, and the impact of life transitions, such as marriage and entering the workforce, on offending. It advocates future studies on the explanation of the age-crime curve, and particularly changes in within-individual explanations rather than permanent individual differences.
