Abstract

This chapter focuses on the detailed recollections of the early childhood social experiences of the research partners in educational environments. Relationships with peers are discussed, including the formation of friendships, bullying, and physical assaults. Those interviewed for the study experienced both positive and negative experiences with teachers. Academic performance and the influence of parents are explored. The recollections present narratives that range from raw and painful to comical. The research partners responded to negative treatment by others in a variety of ways, from fighting, to acting out, to rule nonconformity.
