Abstract

In need of low cost, low resolution imaging systems for general industrial nondestructive testing (NDT) applications, a sparse transducer array guided wave tomography system is investigated for providing an efficient tool for examining platelike structures. Computational aspects of the reconstruction algorithm are investigated in the extent of inverse problems. Several guided wave features are selected to identify imperfections in a test specimen. Results show that a sparse array guided wave tomography system can provide useful information on structural integrity. Therefore, this technique provides a practical solution for the real time health monitoring of industrial structures.
